Stageira (372 inhabitants in 2001) is a village located at the foot of Mount Stratonikos (Strebenikos), at an altitude of about 500 meters, on the northeastern side of Halkidiki. Their distance from the city of Thessaloniki is 73 km. They took their name from the ancient city of Stageira, which is located on a coast 10 km east and is the birthplace of the great philosopher and scientist Aristotle.
